Bridge War Memorial

"Joining together all the veterans of the 20th century who have served their nation proudly"

Each year since 1951 when the Delaware Memorial Bridge was dedicated to the memory of Delaware and New Jersey's veterans, special services have been held on Memorial Day and on Veterans Day.

Since those early days, the DRBA has constructed a War Memorial area. It contains a lasting wall with the names of nearly 15,000 service men and women from the two states who were killed in service to their countries. In addition there is a reflecting pool dedicated to their memory and more recently a "Soldier Statue" was dedicated as part of the War Memorial. The statue particularly honors those men and women of New Jersey and Delaware who died or were declared missing in action in combat since the Korean Conflict. The statue, "One Army," stands near the reflecting pool.

Each year on both Memorial Day and on Veterans Day, officials, veterans, family members and special guests gather at the War Memorial to honor those who have served their country in the armed forces.
