MOTORIST ADVISORY – Construction Work on the Delaware Memorial Bridge Twin Spans Suspended for Independence Day Holiday Weekend

New Castle, DE – All construction work on the Delaware Memorial Bridge Twin Spans has been suspended for the July 4th Holiday weekend. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1 through 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, all lanes on the northbound and southbound bridges will be open to traffic.

Traffic is expected to be heavy during the holiday weekend. Based on historical data, motorists should expect the heaviest traffic during the following time periods:

Friday: 12:00 noon – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

In 2015, Delaware Memorial Bridge traffic totaled 310,021 vehicles during this holiday period, Thursday, July 2 through Monday, July 6.
