Press Release:
(New Castle, DE) Today, Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) officials have implemented
speed and lane restrictions on both spans of the Delaware Memorial Bridge (DMB) as a
result of the high winds associated with a cold front that pass through the area this morning.

The speed limit on the DMB has been reduced to 25 mph while the posted speed limit on
the approach roadways is now 35 mph. The high winds can make driving difficult, especially for
high profile vehicles. As a result of wind conditions and construction, certain lanes on both spans
are closed to traffic.

DRBA Police patrols will actively increase their presence and visibility on the Bridge and
approach roadways. Police personnel will assist all drivers who wish to turn their vehicles around
or who wish to wait in a safe area until sustained wind conditions subside.

According to the National Weather Service, wind speeds will increase to 20-25 mph with
gusts of 45 mph likely. These winds are expected to continue through the afternoon and into this
evening before diminishing by midnight.
