(New Castle, DE) At approximately 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Delaware River and Bay Authority police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at the end of the I295N to Route 13S exit ramp for a driver’s license violation.  The 35 year old male driver, from Wilmington, Delaware, consented to a search of his vehicle.
During the search, a plastic bag containing approximately 10 ounces of cocaine was discovered.  As officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he fled on foot, crossing Route 13N traffic and entering the basement of Delaware State Hospital.  During a search of the basement, the individual surrendered to police officers and was taken into custody without incident.
