Bridge Traffic Stop Results in Drug Seizure
Suspects Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute; Weapon Offense
(New Castle, DE) Early this morning at approximately 12:30 a.m., Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) police officers observed a green Ford Crown Victoria making unsafe lane changes while traveling on the Delaware bound span of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Authority officers pulled the vehicle over in the vicinity of the toll plaza. Neither the driver, Connor Davis, 20, of Salisbury, Maryland, nor his passenger, Kane Lewis, 19, of Delmar, Maryland could provide identification to Authority officers.
Due to conflicting stories provided by Davis, DRBA police officers contacted the Wilmington Police Department for K9 assistance. K9 Neo and his handler responded and conducted a walk-around sniff of the vehicle. Neo indicated positively to the left rear of the vehicle’s truck. A cardboard box containing 5 one pound bags of marijuana – each vacuum sealed - was located. Additionally, U.S. currency in the amount of $2,012.00 was located in the trunk compartment and on the driver. The currency was seized and placed in evidence.
The suspects have been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, and conspiracy second degree Drug Paraphernalia. Davis and Lewis were arraigned and are being held in lieu of $92,000.00 each.
