Cape May – Lewes Ferry Kicks-off 50th Summer Season
Celebrates M/V Delaware’s 40th Birthday; Unveils New “On the Go” Convenience Food Court
(Cape May, NJ) On May 22, 2014, local elected officials will be joined by members of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce and Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) representatives to celebrate the M/V Delaware’s 40th Birthday and to showcase improvements to the Cape May – Lewes Ferry food service operation, including the new “On the Go” customer convenience area. In preparation for the upcoming 50th Anniversary, the M/V Delaware recently underwent enhancements, including a fresh coat of paint, a retro-racing stripe, 50th Anniversary stack logos, and new Adirondack chairs.
The Ferry food service chefs will also introduce a number of new entrée and appetizer choices both in the “On the Go” convenience area and at the “On the Rocks” casual waterfront eateries. In Cape May, On the Rocks customers can now enjoy a new Raw Bar complete with peel & eat shrimp, locally raised oysters, middleneck clams and our steamed littleneck clams.
What: DRBA representatives will be joined by Cape May County officials and business leaders to provide details on the recent upgrades to the M/V Delaware. In addition, officials will also discuss improvements to the Cape May – Lewes Ferry’s food service operation and new menu items. At the conclusion of the brief program, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on the vehicle loading ramp with the M/V Delaware in background. New menu samples and birthday cake will also be served.

Where: On the vessel ramp to Slip #1 at the Cape May – Lewes Ferry Terminal, 1200 Sandman Blvd. North Cape May, NJ. (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Sunset Lounge inside the passenger terminal building.)
Why: The DRBA has made significant investment in improvements in its vessels and food service operation, while at the same time utilizing in-house resources to save expense. This celebration is to acknowledge the efforts of Authority employees, to signify the start of the summer season, to inform the public about the improvements and to encourage them to visit the ferry and enjoy the new amenities as the service celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
