Garden State Wine Growers Association to Host “Cape May Wine Festival” at CMLF
Event Scheduled for the Terminal Green at the Cape May Ferry Terminal on October 8 & 9

(Cape May, NJ) In early October, the Garden State Wine Growers Association will sponsor the Cape May Wine Festival to be held at the Cape May Terminal of the Cape May - Lewes Ferry (CMLF) for the 5th consecutive year. Festival attendees can take advantage of the warm autumnal weather to sample the award-winning wines from New Jersey, listen to live music, stroll through crafters and visit The Kids Zone which has activities especially for the younger attendees.

What:   This wine festival will be held October 8 and 9 in a lovely, grassy field overlooking the ocean at the historic and bustling Cape May-Lewes Ferry (www.cmlf.com). The beautiful site is surrounded on every side by water, its serenity marked only by the arrival and departure of the ferries. Guests can sit and taste wine as ships port or stand at the Point of Cape May and look out at the scenery. People may also walk along the waterfront and boardwalk. The wine festival is being held during Victorian Week for added enjoyment of the Cape May area. Artisan vendors and crafters will be selling hand made products, wine related items and other quality goods. There will be kid’s activities including arts & crafts and face painting.

Cost:      Tickets for each of the festivals are $25 a person at the gate. Advance tickets for all the wine festivals can be purchased only at the association web site for $20 a person. Discounted pricing is available for bus groups and group sales of 15 or more. Large groups and bus groups can call the Association “Wine Line” for more information.

Where:        Cape May Terminal of the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, overlooking the Cape May Canal and Delaware Bay.

        When: Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9; 12 noon – 5:00 p.m.

More:   New Jersey has been producing wine since 1864. While perhaps not as well-known as other wine-producing states, New Jersey is home to many premiere varieties. Award-winning Chardonnay, Syrah, Marechal Foch, Viognier, Traminette, Merlot, Cabernet and dozens of others are produced right here. And, particularly unique to New Jersey wineries are an array of fruit wines such as raspberry, cherry and blueberry, which are exported by some New Jersey wineries all over the world. Because of the climate and conditions of the state, New Jersey wines are most often compared by viticulturists and enologists to the wines of France and Italy.

Continuous Ferry shuttle service will be provided to and from Victorian Cape May, where wine lovers can also enjoy the many tours and activities of Victorian Week, rated as one of America’s “Top 100 Events.” For special Ferry, Festival, and Cape May Ferry Shuttle Packages from the City of Cape May, please call the CMLF reservation office at 800-643-3779.
