DRBA Police Officers Assist in Delivery of Baby Boy
Woman Goes Into Labor Just West of Delaware Memorial Bridge Toll Plaza
(New Castle, DE) At approximately 8:45 a.m. this morning, the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA) police department was notified that a 28 year old female had gone into full-term active labor. The woman was a passenger in a vehicle crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge westbound when her water broke. DRBA police officers S/Sgt. Jannaman, S/Cpl. Moudy, Pfc. LaMora, Ptl. Hall, and New Castle County paramedics responded to the Delaware Memorial Bridge Toll Plaza to assist. An attempt was made to transport the woman to the hospital but the woman’s labor had progressed quickly. After traveling a short distance, the ambulance pulled over to the shoulder again and the woman delivered a baby boy. Both the mother and the baby were transported to Christiana Hospital for further evaluation.
