Inaugural AtlantiCare/Rothman Escape from Lewes Open Water Classic to Make Waves at the Lewes Ferry Terminal
Race Details to be provided at Thursday June 18, 2015 Press Conference
What: Governor Jack Markell, Stephen DelMonte, Founder of DelMoSports, local business leaders and other dignitaries will join Delaware River and Bay Authority officials to provide details on the inaugural debut of the Escape from Lewes Open Water Classic. Visual representations of the race course, the event schedule, community impact, and other event particulars will be discussed. This swimming endurance event is the first of its kind on the East Coast and is expected to draw more than 1000 participants and their families to the Delaware resort area.
Who: Governor Jack Markell; Stephen DelMonte, Founder of DelMoSports, Heath Gehrke, Director of Ferry Operations; Chris Giacomucci, Executive Director, Delaware Sports Commission; and Scott Thomas, Executive Director of Southern Delaware Tourism. In addition, Mr. DelMonte plans to have two race participants available for interviews.
