Aircraft Accident at Millville Airport
(Millville, NJ) At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, a Piper Comanche single engine aircraft apparently lost power following take-off and landed on its belly in the grass near an adjacent taxiway. Just after taking-off from Runway 14-32, the aircraft lost power and the pilot, Roger Buck of Berlin, New Jersey, attempted an emergency landing, touching down in the grass near Taxiway J.
The pilot sustained minor injuries, including a cut on his forehead. A passenger in the plane, Roland Arthur of Lumberton, New Jersey, was unhurt. Both men declined to be transported to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland for treatment.
The following fire and rescue units responded to the scene: Millville Police Department, Millville Rescue Squad, Millville Fire Department and Delaware River and Bay Authority maintenance personnel.
The aircraft sustained significant damage. The FAA has been notified of the incident and will be conducting an accident investigation. No runways or taxiways were impacted by the incident.
