Cape May – Lewes Ferry Offers Sunset Wine Lovers Dinner at Cape May Terminal
Features Fine Food, Ferry Fun, and Great Wine; Sunset Lounge Seating Limited
(North Cape May, NJ) Looking for that perfect place that offers a stunning sunset, savory food and extraordinary wines? A complete connoisseur’s delight? Sit back, relax, and enjoy a full-course dinner with complementary wine selections inside the famed Sunset Lounge of the Cape May Ferry Terminal on Friday, April 29, 2016. Modeled after the Ferry’s Beer Dinners, the Sunset Wine Lovers Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. with Chef’s selection of Hors d’oeuvres. The cost of the all-inclusive, four course dinner, including food, wine pairings, tax and gratuities, is $60 per person.
“As spring gets into full swing, what could be better than to sip a glass of wine, savor some delicious food, listen to live music and enjoy a dramatic sunset?” said Heath Gehrke, Director of Operations. “The Ferry’s Sunset Lounge is your ticket to a landside culinary treat!”
“The beer dinners and wine cruises are incredibly popular,” added Joe Peltz, Superintendent of Food and Retail for the Ferry. “Our customers really enjoy the atmosphere of these events so much that offering a landside wine dinner was the next logical step. The Ferry’s Chef John Schlaner is extremely talented and will expertly pair his creations with a fantastic wine. Mark the date on your calendar for this can’t miss event!”
The first series of Wine events were Cruises held in 2006 with tapas and have continued to be extremely popular with both residents and vacationers. Cruises are expected to start up again as a perennial fall event. In 2014, the Ferry launched its first landside Beer Dinners with full 5-course meals to rave reviews as a means to enjoy local brews and food in the off season. These culinary based events have become mainstays in the Ferry special event calendar and now include a pilot landside, spring wine dinner with a full 5-course gourmet prix fixe dinner.
Due to the change in seasons, dinner kicks off at 6:00 p.m. rather than the earlier beer dinners to let participants enjoy sunsets. Festivities start with a reception, including Chef's Selection of Hors d'oeuvres. The reception is followed by Artisan Cheese Plate, Crab-filled Cucumber Roll, and Orange Chive Aioli. The salad course features Provencal Hearts of Palm Salad.
The Entrée includes Sliced seared Skirt Steak, Crispy Shallots and Petite Potato Croquette.
To conclude the dinner, enjoy mini-Strawberry Shortcake. Peltz added that all creations are expertly paired with a wine selection from Hogue Cellars Wines. As the icing on the cake, locally renowned musician James Butera will provide live entertainment for evening’s festivities and a special drawing will also be held at the end of the dinner for a surprise giveaway.
Due to limited capacity and anticipated popularity of the event, reservations are required. To reserve tickets for Sunset Wine Lovers Dinner, please contact our Guest Services Department daily at 1-800-643-3779 (FERRY) during the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
