Escape to Lewes Open Water Swim Classic to Make Waves at the Cape May – Lewes Ferry
Media Representatives Invited to Cover the October 1 Swim Races

(Lewes, DE) More than six hundred swimmers and one big ferry vessel adds up to the most exciting open water swimming event on the East Coast! On Saturday, October 1, the Inaugural AtlantiCare/Rothman Escape to Lewes Open Water Swim Classic will test the skill and endurance of the participants at all ability levels. Hosted at the Lewes Ferry Terminal, this event is the second largest open water swim on the East Coast.

Nowhere on the East Coast exists such a powerful combination of elements in one athletic event: the ingenuity of DelMoSports event production, the scenic terrain of Cape Henlopen State Park, and the added thrill of leaping off a massive ferry vessel to begin the race! The 2016 ETL 3-Mile Race is designated as World Open Water Swimming Association’s (WOWSA) 3-Mile World Championship Event. Athletes will board the ferry and journey out to the waters just inside the Delaware Breakwater Harbor where they will jump off to begin the race. The event will consist of two challenging races: a 3-mile and 1-mile swim.

DelMoSports is a boutique race company based out of Wildwood, New Jersey, and is responsible for organizing some of the area’s most popular triathlons including IRONMAN 70.3 Atlantic City, Atlantic City Triathlon, Tri the Wildwoods Triathlon, and Escape the Cape – which was voted the Best Triathlon in the Mid-Atlantic and North East Region.
