Concrete Highway Work Will Require the Closure of U.S. Route 202 Northbound and Ramps

Wilmington -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that the I-95/U.S. Route 202 Interchange Project will require the full closure of U.S. Route 202 northbound from Broom Street to the Bridge over I-95 beginning Friday, October 23 until Monday, November 2.  DelDOT'S Contractor, Mumford and Miller Concrete Inc., will be removing and replacing the existing concrete pavement on U.S. Route 202.

DelDOT strongly recommends that all non-local (through) traffic utilize I-495 in lieu of I-95 during these closures.

During the reconstruction of U.S. Route 202 northbound, the following closures will be in effect starting at 5 a.m. on Friday, October 23 until 5 a.m. on Monday, November 2:

  • Closure of U.S. Route 202 northbound from Broom Street to the Bridge over I-95;
  • Closure of the ramp from U.S. Route 202 northbound to I-95 northbound; and
  • Closure of the ramp from U.S. Route 202 northbound to I-95 southbound.

Please note that the section of  U.S. Route 202 northbound from Broom Street to the ramp to I-95 northbound and the ramp will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 26.

These closures are weather dependent and will be postponed to the following day, if inclement conditions occur.  Message boards of the upcoming closures and detour signs will be posted for motorists.
