Delaware Department of Transportation: Restriping on I-95 and I-495 Southbound Will Require Nighttime Lane Closures AND Closure of I-295 Off-Ramp
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that I-95 southbound will be restriped to allow a more free flow of traffic between the off-ramp to I-295 and the on-ramp from I-495. The restriping will begin at 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16.
Two left lanes will be closed on I-95 southbound and the off-ramp to I-295 eastbound will be closed from 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16.
Detour Route for the off-ramp to I-295 eastbound: Traffic will take Route 141 interchange and return to I-95 northbound to I-295 eastbound. The right lane will be closed on I-495 southbound from 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16.
As part of this work, the rumble strips on the left shoulder in this area will be milled and hot-mix overlay.
Motorists are cautioned that after the re-striping, the lane configurations on both I-95 and I-495 in this area will be changed. They should exhibit caution when traveling in this area after the traffic switch.
Variable message boards and detour route will be posted for motorists.
