America’s 9/11 Foundation Ride along I-95 & I295
Motorcycle Rally from DC to Ground Zero on Saturday, August 20

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that a planned motorcycle rally sponsored by America’s 9/11 Foundation is expected to impact northbound I-95 traffic on Saturday, August 20. The America's 9/11 Ride is tribute event designed for Remembering the Heroes, Volunteers, and Victims who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The America’s 9/11 Ride is an Annual Memorial Ride which takes place in August respecting each site and the survivors, allowing them to mourn during September.

Motorists should expect major delays on I-95 northbound when the rally begins in DC and no traffic will be allowed to pass the riders. The rolling road block will decrease in speed when the bikers approach the I-95 Newark Toll Plaza in order to pay tolls at approximately 10:00A on Saturday, August 20. This will cause several miles of back-ups on I-95 northbound. This event will require the temporary closure of I-95 northbound on-ramps from the I-95 Newark Toll Plaza for several minutes until the procession passes each on-ramp. Ramps along I-295 between I-95 and Route 9 will be impacted as the motorcycles travel to New Jersey.

Police officers will temporarily shut down ramp access to the northbound traffic on the Delaware Memorial Bridge at approximately 10:30A.  Message boards will display traffic related messages to warn of ramp closures that are caused by this event. Information will also be posted on DelDOT's radio station, WTMC 1380 AM.
