Collection of factual information identifying and describing people, roads and vehicles involved in a collision; describing the results of the collision in terms of damage to vehicles and road-side objects, injuries to people, marks and residue on the road and final positions of vehicles and bodies; interpretation of these facts in terms of behavior of road users involved; and, if available, the peculiar combination of factors required to produce that particular collision are specified.
Activity Analysis
The department's activity analysis function provides the ability to identify activity patterns and trends of the criminal and traffic offender for: Operational deployment, Tactical intervention, Strategic planning, and Management analysis. The department's crime analysis function includes the analysis of activities of the criminal and traffic violator. The inclusion of all such activities will enhance management decisions in resource allocation and when prioritizing objectives for the department (i.e., strategic planning).
Aviation Unit
Search & Rescue Mission: A mission designed to locate either a person, a vehicle, a vessel or an aircraft, that or suspected of being, in distress. Rescue does not necessarily imply physical recovery, although it may, but is used broadly to also include directing ground and/or waterborne units to the distressed unit’s location.
Suicide Intervention: Activities at the Delaware Memorial Bridge whereby an officer(s) attempts to convince/force a suicidal subject to leave the span without jumping to his/her death despite the suicidal subject’s intentions.
