DRBA Police Department

Message from the Police Administrator
    Colonel John R. McCarnan

Welcome to the Internet site of the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police Department.

As police administrator of the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police Department, it gives me great pleasure to share information about our department with you.

I am proud to be in command of a professional and progressive police organization. We have worked hard to establish high standards and promote professionalism, integrity, and customer service-oriented policing.

Our department was awarded national police accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA) beginning in 1996. We have satisfactorily completed reaccreditation every three years to maintain that status, and most recently in November 2005, the department was reaccredited by CALEA.

The department’s commitment to high standards of professionalism is demonstrated through its recruitment initiatives, selection process, and training programs. Our recruitment and selection process seeks bright men and women with well-rounded minds, physically fit bodies, and public service commitments. Our basic training program exceeds the mandatory requirements of both Delaware and New Jersey.

Our mission is to protect and serve. Our four basic core values are Integrity, Fairness, Competency, and Accountability.
