DRBA's 3rd Annual Community Job Fair Connects Locals with Careers

This July 2025, the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) welcomed approximately 200 job seekers to its 3rd Annual Community Job Fair. Held at the Route 9 Library & Innovation Center, this event served as a bridge, connecting local talent with the Authority’s diverse and rewarding career opportunities. The high turnout and enthusiastic participation from our community made this year's job fair a rewarding success, as it perfectly aligned with our commitment to community empowerment and local employment.

Exploring Career Pathways at the DRBA

Local job seekers had the unique opportunity to engage directly with employees from several of our key departments including Maintenance, Tolls, Airports, and the DRBA Police, where they received a firsthand look at the wide variety of DRBA careers available. From skilled trades to public safety and airport operations, our job fair showcased the many vital roles that keep our organization running smoothly.

To make the experience more interactive, attendees received a special card to be stamped at each booth they visited. Those who completed their cards were entered into a raffle for exciting prizes like merchandise and even discounted tickets from Avelo Airlines! The Authority’s Human Resources Department planned this fun element to encourage job seekers to learn about all the different departments and the specific positions they offer. To help potential candidates navigate the application process with ease, each booth also provided a QR code, allowing them to directly apply for positions on the DRBA website.

A Partnership for a Brighter Future

The success of the job fair is a testament to the strong partnership between the DRBA, New Castle County, and New Castle County Libraries. This collaboration reflects our shared goal of providing meaningful access to career opportunities that can transform lives.

As Sherita Copeland, Sr. HR Specialist for the DRBA, shared, "The partnership between the Route 9 Library and the Delaware River and Bay Authority reflects our shared commitment to uplifting the community through meaningful access, opportunity, and connection. Together, we’re not only enhancing recruitment efforts- we're helping local residents envision new career pathways and build brighter futures.”

The meticulous planning and hard work of our Human Resources Department created a welcoming and efficient environment for everyone involved. Their dedication ensured that the event ran smoothly, providing a streamlined process for candidates and a professional showcase for our departments.
