Wilmington Airport (ILG) Marks Two Years of Landline Connection Service
NEW CASTLE, Del. – Today, the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) marks the two-year anniversary of American Airlines’ Landline connection service at Wilmington Airport (ILG). Launched in October 2024, the luxury motorcoach service provides a seamless link between ILG and American’s global hub at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).
“The Landline connection at ILG offers area travelers an exceptionally convenient, hassle-free, and cost-effective way to begin their journey,” said Ben Clendaniel, DRBA Director of Airport Operations. “Wilmington Airport gives our local community effortless access to over 100 destinations in the American Airlines global network, perfectly complementing the non-stop routes served by Avelo Airlines.”
Through the tarmac-to-tarmac service, local passengers check in, drop their bags, and clear TSA security at Wilmington Airport’s streamlined terminal before boarding a premium motorcoach directly to their departure gate at PHL. Checked bags are handled automatically through to the passenger's final destination.
The two-year milestone comes during a banner year for both airport operations and the airline partner. Earlier this year, the ILG Landline service surpassed 20,000 total passengers, while American Airlines celebrated its centennial milestone, marking 100 years since its inaugural flight in April 1926.
