NEW CASTLE, Del. – Today, Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) officials announced that its contractor, UHPC Solutions North America LLC of Orange, New Jersey will begin demobilization efforts on New Jersey Span starting on Tuesday, May 16. The second phase of the major construction project to rehabilitate the bridge deck (driving surface) of the New Jersey bound span is winding down and all lanes are expected to reopen prior to Memorial Day weekend. 

The demobilization of the construction zone, including the removal of construction equipment and concrete Jersey Barriers, is set to begin on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Once the demobilization effort on the New Jersey bound Span is complete, work will shift to the Delaware bound Span to clear the Jersey barriers for the Bypass Lane.

Tuesday, May 16 – Saturday, May 20:   The two (2) left lanes remain closed, with a third lane closed from 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. to remove the concrete Jersey Barriers and replace them with traffic barrels. During this process, the right lane on the New Jersey bound Span and the Bypass Lane on the Delaware bound bridge will remain open.
