DRBA Police Join Lewes PD/Rehoboth Beach PD PAC

LEWES, Del. – Today Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) Police Department announced that the Lewes Police Department/Rehoboth Beach Police Department’s Police Accountability Committee (PAC) unanimously voted to accept the application of the DRBA Police Department to join the Lewes PD/Rehoboth Beach PD PAC.  The public meeting took place at Lewes City Hall in Lewes, Delaware on December 4, 2025.

“The DRBA Police Department is honored to be accepted into the Lewes PD/Rehoboth Beach PD PAC,” said Col. Wayne McFadden, DRBA Police Administrator.  “Because we have a close and well-established working relationship with both police departments and our Troop 3 location at the Lewes Ferry Terminal serves the local community more uniquely than our other Delaware Troop locations, it made sense for our department to join and participate in this PAC.”

The DRBA police representatives to the PAC will be Col. Wayne McFadden and Lewes Troop Operations Officer, Lt. Jason LaMora, or his alternate designee.   The Lewes PD/Rehoboth Beach PD PAC meets quarterly.

With the statewide implementation of Delaware Police Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST), all Delaware police departments are required to establish, either individually or in combination with other departments, police accountability committees or boards (PACs).

PAC’s membership also includes diverse representatives from the community at large who must complete 20 hours of community training with their respective police departments, which should provide greater insight and understanding of police operations and administration. The training may include ride-a-longs or a citizen’s police academy, as well as any demonstrations or other worthwhile courses of instruction.

The purpose of PACs is to provide advice to departments on policy, training, and other issues relating to or affecting the department and the communities served by the department.  POST anticipates that PACs will result in greater transparency, information gathering and sharing, education, and community engagement.
