Cape May-Lewes Ferry Offers Popular Spring Cape May County Zoo Excursions

LEWES, Del. – The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) is pleased to announce the return of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry’s "Spring Zoo" excursion package for May 2026. This family-friendly travel bundle offers a seamless way for Delaware residents and visitors to explore the Cape May County Park and Zoo.

“This world class zoo features more than 250 animals – from lions and leopards to panthers and bears, there are so many animals to see!,” said Jennifer Shivers, assistant director of operations for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. “With its extensive natural environment and winding trails, the Cape May County Park and Zoo is an awesome family adventure and it’s only a beautiful boat ride away!”  Trip Advisor has consistently rated Cape May County Park & Zoo as one of the top 25 zoos in the country.

The excursion package is available on three consecutive Sundays: May 3, May 10, and May 17, 2026. Departing from the Lewes terminal at 8:45 a.m., the package provides a full day of adventure with a scheduled return to Lewes at 5:45 p.m.

The Spring Zoo excursion is designed as an all-inclusive experience. Each package includes round-trip foot passage on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, shuttle transportation to and from the zoo, and admission to the Cape May County Park and Zoo. The package cost is $32.00 for passengers 14 years of age and older and $12.00 for children under 13 years of age.

Visitors will have the opportunity to get a fascinating look at a variety of animals, birds, and reptiles within a beautiful garden setting. The park also features a playground for children with food available for purchase on-site. While outside food is prohibited in the zoo, picnic tables are available for use just outside the entrance.

Due to a passenger limit of 32 guests per trip, reservations are highly recommended. While the Lewes Customer Service Center can accommodate walk-up traffic if space is available, booking in advance is the best way to secure a spot for future travel. The DRBA is also committed to accessibility; simply request additional assistance in advance at time of booking or by contacting us prior to arrival.
